The schedule
The schedule is coming together nicely. Check it out here (scroll to the bottom of the page for each day's activities).

We will, of course, be adding much more detail as Bouchercon draws closer.

Special events
A couple of updates:
  • Second Annual Rex Stout Banquet: Our friends, the Wolfe Pack, are hosting an evening of revelry and merrymaking on Friday, October 15th at the magnificent Payne Mansion. According to them, “We drink. We sing. We toast. We're the Wolfe Pack. All are welcome.” Celebrity chef Michael Goldstein will cook the French menu from Too Many Cooks. Gayle Lynds will be the keynote speaker: the topic is “Nero Wolfe, the Spy”. For more details, go to www.nerowolfe.org.

  • Subterranean San Francisco Black Envelope Event: The Litanies of Noir: Poe, Rimbaud, Baudelaire, Manchette, Marinetti, Dashiell Hammett, Dorothy Hughes, and the great howling ghost of Moloch would all be here if they could, to celebrate the demise of the mainstream and the rise of the great sub-literate art form. City Lights Booksellers and Publishers are pleased to present in conjunction with Bouchercon another installment in the Subterranean San Francisco reading series; an evening of Noir Manifestos, shouted from table tops and sprawling into the street in the bleeding heart of North Beach. Master of Ceremonies Peter Maravelis. Music by Mr. Lucky and The Cocktail Party. Other participants to be announced. This event is by invitation only at an undisclosed location. Invitations will be available starting Tuesday, October 12, at City Lights Bookstore, 261 Columbus Avenue, San Francisco; ask at the front desk for a Black Envelope. Admission is free, but seating is limited.

Tours of San Francisco
We're offering cable car tours of San Francisco on Thursday morning, before our panel programming begins. They're free, and to sign up, just email us at cablecar@bcon2010.com. Space is limited, so reserve now.

Many of you have asked about our Hammett walking tours, and we'll have details for you soon, we promise .

The Business of Bouchercon
This year's business meeting will decide the locations for Bouchercon in 2012, 2013, and 2014. There are two cities bidding to host Bouchercon 2012, so it's really important that you attend and cast your vote. If you're wondering how it all works, you can find information in the by-laws and rules sections at the Official Bouchercon website. The business meeting is currently scheduled for Thursday afternoon, and will be confirmed a bit later on.

And finally.....

As always, we're updating our website frequently, and our blog is the place for the newest and freshest information.

Hope you're having a terrific summer!

Cheers,
Rae
