All the latest news, and there's a lot of it ;-)

Doing good deeds by having fun…
One of Bouchercon's most honored traditions is our contribution to local charities. This year, we're supporting three very deserving organizations. We'll have more details soon on ways and means....
  • San Francisco Friends of the Library: This non-profit benefits the main and branch libraries of San Francisco - and we do love our libraries.
  • 826 Valencia: This organization targets youth ages 6-18 to help improve writing skills as well as supporting their teachers' efforts to drive student interest in the literary arts. Donations of both money and equipment are welcome. We're very pleased that some of the participants in the 826 Valencia program will be joining us one day during Bouchercon. Details to come...
  • Casa de las Madres: San Francisco’s leading voice for abused women, Casa de las Madres serves women, teens, and children in need. In addition to providing support to abused women and their children, the program also specifically addresses violence in the home.

The Anthony Awards Brunch!
As you've seen on the website, our Anthony Awards brunch will take place on Sunday, October 17 at 10:00 a.m. There's no additional charge, but RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. We want to make sure you get all the bacon you can eat ;-) To make a reservation, just email us at anthonys@bcon2010.com. We'll take our last reservation on about October 1, but will give you plenty of notice before we close them off.

Cable Car Tours!
The Kate Martinelli (U.S. Guest of Honor Laurie R. King's wonderful protagonist) tours are so popular, we're adding them to the schedule on Friday and Saturday as well as on Thursday. Just email us at cablecar@bcon2010.com and put your preferred day in the subject line. If you've already replied, we reserved a spot for you on Thursday, but we're happy to change it if you'd rather go on a different day.

Cruisin' the Bay!
We've made arrangements with the Red & White Fleet for a special Bouchercon fare for Sunset Cruises on Friday and Saturday evenings at 6:00 p.m. The standard rate is $54 per person, but they're giving us a $4 per person discount. What will $50 get you? Live music, lots of tasty snacks (enough to call it dinner) and a lovely cruise around the Bay that will get you back to the hotel in plenty of time for either the Reacher Creature party on Friday night, or the Disco Dance on Saturday night.

If you're interested, go to the Red & White Fleet Sunset Cruise site and use our discount code - BCON - to make your reservation.

Want to visit the Napa Valley wine country before Bouchercon gets started?
Larry Gandle is putting together a tour for about ten people, on Wednesday October 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. You'll be transported in a comfy van with your very own driver to take a personal tour of one winery, and visit four or five others; and learn about how wine is made as well as how Napa has become one of the premier wine growing regions in the world. You'll also enjoy a picnic lunch and a lovely dinner.

Cost will be approximately $100 per person, plus about $25 for tastings and meals. If you're interested email Larry at lgandle@aol.com.

Wondering whether your favorite author is coming to Bouchercon?
We've added a list of Authors to our Attendees page. We'll be updating it regularly, so keep checking back....

And finally…

As always, we're updating the website and our blog almost by the minute, so make sure to visit regularly to get the news at its freshest.

We're all getting more and more excited as Bouchercon draws closer and we hope you are, too. I look forward to seeing you in just a few weeks!

Cheers,
Rae
